Fishing in Ayrshire and Beyond
There is ample opportunity in the locale to attempt to outwit the
Atlantic Salmon, Wild Brown Trout and its migratory cousin, the
Sea Trout.

The
Rivers Doon and Ayr are both only minutes away, and both have runs
of Salmon from mid Summer onwards. The River Stinchar, in South
Ayrshire is perhaps the most celebrated of the local Salmon rivers,
and it can have excellent runs of Salmon, especially in the late
Summer and Autumn. In common with most west-coast rivers, the fish
run best after heavy rain.
There
are numerous lochs in the area offering fishing for Brown Trout,
often in beautiful surroundings. The fish tend not to be huge, but
are hard fighting and, pan fried with oatmeal, make a delicious
breakfast.

There
are numerous Rainbow Trout fisheries in the area offering the chance
to catch (often very large) Stocked Trout. Of course, the cream
of the Scottish Salmon rivers such as the Tay, Tweed and Spey are
also perfectly reachable - Perth 2 hous, Kelso 2 hours, Inverness
3 hours. It is best to make prior arrangements and enquiries, and
we can offer help in this.
