It is now almost two years since the bridge appeal fund was launched and there has been support from a number of Cathcarts from around the globe.

However recent events at Sundrum have resulted in a change of direction. The ruins of the old mill on the far side of the Water at Coyle is to rebuilt to form a private dwelling and therefore the replacement for the bridge will be undertaken by the developer of the mill.

The bridge will be constructed by spanning the water with steelwork which will then be overclad with stone in order to emulate the original bridge.

In the light of this we will be returning donations to those concerned.

There has however been interest in a futue "gathering" possibly in 2006.
